SYRACUSE, NY – This past weekend Can-Am Speedway officials were busy attending the Syracuse Motorsports Expo in Syracuse NY and also DIRTcar promoters meetings and tech seminars.

Track owner Tyler Bartlett and other officials were on hand all weekend at the Expo and talked with many of the thousands of fans and competitors that took the time to stop and talk over the two day event. Interest is very high for the 2018 racing season at the fast half mile, with both competitors and fans alike.

A number of racers from all classes, have shown an interest in competing weekly at Can-Am and officials are hoping that car counts will see an increase in all divisions. Officials took the opportunity over the weekend to talk with potential sponsors and also talked with many of the other track owners/promoters and established what hopes to be great working relationships, to not only help build their individual tracks but to also help local short track racing as a whole.

Continuing the busy weekend, Can-Am officials took the time to attend the spring DIRTcar meeting and tech seminar. Friday’s promoters meeting went over DIRTcar Series events and procedures as well as some of the many new and exiting programs DIRTcar has planned for the coming season and moving forward, to help all DIRT sanctioned tracks continue to grow.

Saturday, new head tech inspector Richard “Ike” Stone and other officials attended the DIRTcar tech seminar in Weedsport NY. DIRTcar tech inspectors spent most of the day going over new rules, as well as other tech issues that were a problem last season. The meetings were very informative and will help Can-Am keep all competitors on a level playing field.

Officials will continue to work hard as they prepare for opening day on May 4th and the 2018 season.

The next event will be the return of the “Mall Show” at the Salmon Run Mall in Watertown NY from April 9th – April 15th. Watch for a complete list of race cars and go-karts that have registered to be a part of the show and also events that will be going on during the week.
